The second Latvian stakeholders meeting of the PROGRESS project took place

Within the framework of the Interreg Europe project „PROGRESS: PROmoting the Governance of Regional Ecosystem ServiceS” on July9th, 2020 the second local stakeholders meeting took place at Riga Technical University (RTU).

At this meeting, project manager Sanda Geipele informed about the achievements and upcoming activities in the context of this project. But the project researcher Janis Zvirgzdins presented the content of first handbook of good practices with included good practices from Ireland, Spain, Latvia and Italy, which were devoted to the first thematic cycle: measurement of the costs and benefits of ecosystem services derived from land use. The first handbook of good practices will be published in July 2020 and will be available on the project’s website.

The second thematic cycle of the project is dedicated to the topic: supporting the horizontal integration of the ecosystem concerns into the sectoral policies and plans at regional and/or national level. Additionally, all project partners decided to identify examples of good practices in the forest sector of their regions. Therefore, relevant experts from the Latvian State Forest Research Institute “Silava” also took part in this meeting, who informed stakeholders about a potential example of good practice.

During the project RTU will collect good practice examples from all partner regions and issue four handbooks of good practices in accordance with the thematic cycles of the project.
