The Pilot action “Circular economy approaches testing reuse laboratories – TESLA LAB” (further – TESLA LAB) is implemented in the framework of the European Union (EU) Interreg Europe interregional cooperation programme project “Optimization of waste management in urban spaces and in households” (OptiWaMag) by the Institute of the Civil Engineering and Real Estate Economics (BUNĪI) of the Riga Technical University (RTU) in cooperation with the Italian partner – European Transnational Network – Sweden Emilia Romagna Network (SERN), which is supporting the Casalgrande Municipality with the OptiWaMag project implementation from 1 September 2021 to 31 January 2022.
This Pilot action TESLA LAB is dedicated to testing new innovative approaches for introducing circular economy principle 3R principle (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) in the waste management practices of Latvia within the first Reuse centre of Latvia located in the landfill “Kivites” of the South Kurzeme Region following practices and methods applied in the Emilia Romagna Region of Italy, namely the Good Practice “Change the Ending!”, which will contribute to the policy instrument of Latvia – National Waste Management Plan 2021-2028. Thus, exploring experience and testing innovative reuse methods applied by Italy will help Latvian stakeholders to learn how to organize the reuse process for different goods in the right way, as well as promote the involvement of society in the reuse process.
All planned activities of the TESLA LAB are funded by the pilot project TESLA LAB of the Interreg Europe programme, which is implemented within the OptiWaMag project no. PGI06085.
A video story about the new Property Restoration and Exchange Center at the Liepāja Region Landfill “Ķīvītes”, created by the Liepāja Regional Waste Management Center “Liepājas RAS”. The Center serves as a platform for the research of the pilot project “TESLA LAB” on testing new and innovative approaches to the application of circular economy principles in Latvian waste management practice by implementing the 3R principles.
