  • The history of the Department of Civil Construction and Real Estate Economics and Management dates back to 26 July 1968, when at the basis of the Department of Construction Engineering of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Riga Polytechnic Institute, the Department of Construction Economics and Organisation of the Faculty of Engineering Economics was established, attracting to the new department academic staff members specialising in construction economics and organisation.
  • Since 2005, the Department of Department of Civil Construction and Real Estate Economics and Management has been implementing specialist training in nationally important civil construction and real estate areas such as
    • Real estate development,
    • Operation and maintenance,
    • Administration and management,
    • Appraisal and construction engineering economics,
    • Including construction cost estimation.
  • Since 2009, the Department has been an integral part of the Institute of Civil Engineering and Real Estate Economics.
  • Since 2002, Dr. oec., RTU professor Ineta Geipele has been the Head of the Department of Civil Construction and Real Estate Economics and Management.
  • The curriculum has been developed in collaboration with real estate professionals
    • The Association of Management and Administration of Latvian Housing,
    • Latvian Real Estate Association,
    • Latvian Association of Property Appraisers.
  • In 2015, the representatives of Construction Industry Expert Council took part in the curriculum development.
  • The Department ensures that students acquire theoretical knowledge, while professional associations provide students with practical experience in the field of study.
